2016 has been interesting! It's treated me well. Really well! But it's hard to say it's been an amazing year when I feel so sad about the state of our world and recent events.
Babies aside (cause making, having 2 Csections, and raising two babies is no joke!), one of my biggest accomplishments was my business.
Never did I imagine I'd actually find something that I love to do and that can support my family!
I spent all my life trying to squeeze myself into the corporate box mold, wondering why I wasn't able to thrive or conform. I was living my life in terms of what's impossible and what I can't do. As a non-creative. I believed there was nothing for me in art - that's not a noble profession like being a doctor, lawyer, or banker. Omg am I glad I broke out of that cage.
If there's one thing I can take away from 2016, is that anything you put your mind to, you can accomplish with hard work and passion.
We moved from San Diego in November of 2015 and I opened up my little business here in Pensacola in February. I second shot my butt off, researched (always am!) all things business, taxes, licensing, insurance, marketing, client satisfaction, photography, storytelling, even some coding (epic fail) and went gung-ho entrepreneur. I put my heart, sweat, blood, and tears into this little labor of love and much to my surprise, it thrived.
I met new, super awesome, likeminded creatives, learned from some of the best in the biz, and even found new friends in clients!
I went into this with the goal of booking just one wedding in Pensacola for 2017. As my portfolio, experience, and skill kept improving, I far surpassed that goal and decided to aim for 10 weddings for 2017. I surpassed that goal again and now I'm just four bookings away from a full load (for me) - 20 weddings - for 2017! I'm crazy excited for all the adventures that 2017 will bring and working to meet all my new goals - like booking a wedding in Europe for 2018! 😍
Forget New Years resolutions. Make goals! Life goals. Put your goals out into the universe, ask the universe for what you want, work for them, and watch them come to life!
Then, savor the journey to reaching your goals because we never really reach the finish line. It always seems to be shifting 😉💕✊🏼
